Quick verdict

Planable is an excellent fit when social content has to pass through real review, especially between an agency and its clients. Its per-workspace pricing includes unlimited users, and Pro makes required approval, a public API, and ten connected pages available without moving to Enterprise. It is less compelling for a solo publisher who wants a low-cost queue with analytics and inbox included.

Pros and cons

Pros
  • Unlimited users on Basic and Pro make the price predictable for client, legal, and internal reviewers
  • Dedicated workspaces separate each brand or client’s pages, campaigns, team, assets, and approval flow
  • Planable publishes directly to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, Google Business Profile, and Threads
  • Comments, suggestions, text annotations, guest-view links, version history, and team-only drafts keep feedback beside the post
  • Pro includes required approval, a public API, MCP connector, Zapier, Canva, and Slack integrations
Cons
  • Basic is limited to 60 created posts and four social pages per workspace each month
  • Required approval workflows, grid view, and the public API start on Pro
  • Analytics and Social Inbox are paid workspace add-ons on Basic and Pro
  • The free trial is capped at 50 created posts and does not include X publishing
  • Social listening is a separate $82.50 per-workspace monthly add-on rather than a standard plan feature

What is Planable?

Planable is a social media management product built around the point where a draft becomes approved content. Each workspace holds one brand, client, or location with its own pages, calendar, collaborators, campaigns, assets, and approval settings. The price is per workspace rather than per seat, so a team can bring in reviewers without having to buy a license for every participant.

Publishing is available for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, Google Business Profile, and Threads. The core interface offers feed and calendar views on Basic, adds a grid on Pro, and adds list view on Enterprise. That visual emphasis is useful for a client who needs to assess a post in context instead of working through a spreadsheet or a sequence of emailed screenshots.

Planable extends beyond social posts with Universal Content, a shared calendar for blog articles, newsletters, ads, press releases, briefs, and other material that may still need comments and sign-off. Analytics, Social Inbox, and Social Listening are separate product layers. That division keeps the planning product focused, but it also means the advertised starting price is not the full cost for a team that needs reporting, comment management, or monitoring.

Core features

Workspace-based planning and publishing

A Planable workspace is dedicated to one client, brand, or location and keeps its connected pages, calendar, collaborators, campaigns, and shared assets separate. Basic allows four social pages and 60 created posts per workspace each month, while Pro raises those limits to 10 pages and 150 posts. Enterprise lists 50 pages and unlimited posts. Planable schedules content to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, Google Business Profile, and Threads.

Review, annotations, and approval flows

Feedback happens next to the draft through comments, suggested edits, and text annotations. Teams can use private team-only drafts and notes before showing work to a client, share a guest-view link for occasional collaborators, and inspect or restore earlier versions. Basic supports no approval requirement or optional approval. Pro adds required approval, and Enterprise adds multi-level workflows that can route a post through steps such as team lead, client, and legal before it can publish.

Visual calendar, campaigns, and bulk work

Planable presents content as a feed or calendar on Basic, then adds an Instagram-style grid on Pro and a bulk-action list on Enterprise. A calendar has post previews and drag-and-drop planning, while labels and campaigns group material by topic, format, or event. Basic includes three campaigns and five labels per workspace; Pro includes 10 campaigns and 10 labels; Enterprise lists unlimited campaigns and labels. Enterprise list view also supports selecting, approving, scheduling, deleting, and duplicating content in bulk.

Universal Content and creation controls

Universal Content lets a team plan, review, and approve material that is not a social post, including long-form blog articles with images, videos, and embeds, newsletters, ads, press releases, and briefs. The pricing comparison lists AI post rewriting, AI post generation, first-comment scheduling, recurring posts, and omnichannel planning across the published plans. It also lists one X post per 24 hours on Basic, with unlimited X publishing on Pro and Enterprise.

Analytics, inbox, listening, and automations

Analytics is a per-workspace add-on that supplies cross-channel statistics, page and post metrics, audience insights, custom reports, personalized best-time-to-post guidance, and competitor analytics. Social Inbox is another add-on for comments and DMs, with replies, reaction and deletion controls, conversation statuses, AI-generated replies, and sentiment sorting. Planable says Inbox covers comments on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok plus Facebook and Instagram DMs. Pro and Enterprise also list the public API, while the pricing table lists MCP connector, Zapier, Canva, and Slack integrations.

Who it is for

Agencies with active client approval cycles

An agency can create one workspace per client, give clients access without per-seat charges, keep internal drafts private, and ask for approval only when a post is ready. Pro is the practical minimum if a client must approve content before it is published.

Multi-brand marketing teams

A team managing several brands or locations can keep pages, people, campaigns, assets, and workflow rules apart in dedicated workspaces while retaining a visual calendar for each brand.

Content teams coordinating more than social

Universal Content suits teams that want blog articles, newsletters, ads, briefs, and social posts to move through the same feedback and approval process rather than live in separate systems.

Verdict

Planable earns an 8.3 because its collaboration model is unusually well aligned with the messy part of social work: getting a clear decision from the people who need to see the content. Unlimited users and per-workspace billing are meaningful advantages for agency workflows, and Pro has the approval controls most teams actually need. The tradeoff is a modular bill: analytics, inbox, and listening are not included in the Basic or Pro headline price.

Recommendation: Choose Pro when posts require a formal client or stakeholder sign-off and the workspace needs more than four pages or 60 monthly posts. Choose Basic for a small, flexible team that primarily needs visual planning and optional approvals. Price the Analytics and Social Inbox add-ons before treating Planable as an all-in-one management suite.
